How we work together

Therapy shouldn't require you to fit yourself into a particular approach. We begin by understanding what's happening for you and what you hope will feel different, and work from there. There's no single formula. We figure out what's useful together.

I bring my developing clinical knowledge and perspective. You bring the knowledge of your own life. Your goals, experiences, values, and circumstances shape the work, and we can adjust as we go.

A space to be human

Therapy should be a place where you don't have to edit yourself or make your experience easier for someone else to understand. There's room for uncertainty, emotion, humour, complicated experiences, and things that are hard to talk about.

My role is to listen with curiosity rather than judgment, and to help create enough safety for honesty and understanding.

There's no right way to show up here.

Understanding what's beneath the surface

Sometimes what's showing up now is connected to experiences, relationships, beliefs, or patterns that developed earlier. Exploring those connections isn't about dwelling on the past or finding something to blame. It's about understanding why you think, feel, and respond the way you do.

That kind of understanding can create more choice. Change, in this context, isn't about becoming a different person. It's about seeing more clearly what you want to hold onto, what you want to change, and what moving forward could look like for you.

Tools for change

Insight matters, but therapy can also include practical tools. Depending on what you're experiencing, that might mean learning to manage emotions, exploring thought patterns, building body awareness, or finding skills that make everyday life more manageable.

The goal isn't a list of things you "should" be doing. It's finding what actually fits you.

Currently drawing from

  • CBT
  • DBT-informed skills
  • Mindfulness
  • Somatic approaches

I'm still building clinical experience in each of these, and I draw from them thoughtfully based on where you are. As my training grows, so will the approaches I bring into our work.
